We are based in Furness Vale in a converted dye mill set on the edge of the village close to the Peak Forest Canal. We are positioned within walking distance of Furness Vale train station and a short walk from bus routes. Please note that we will be moving to Glossop later this year.

Service Engineer

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To work as part of the Service, Spares and Support team, supporting all system installations. This engineer will undertake regular service visits to customer sites to ensure the machinery is performing effectively and efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Undertaking regular service visits to customer sites across the world. Generate report for the visit.
  • Resolving electrical, mechanical and software issues.
  • Liaising with customers and provide support to operators.
  • Fault-finding and on-site system diagnostics.
  • In-time, be part of the on-call rota for the 24 hour breakdown calls (1 week in 4).
  • Be available to undertake reactive jobs that occur at any site (EN jobs).

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Proven track record (3+ years) in field service work.
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge in industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting PLCs (ideally Rockwell Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs).
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Clear communication skills at all levels, especially verbal.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work.
  • Highly motivated individual.
  • Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, self-motivated and determined.
  • Ability to travel to, and work at, all areas of the company’s operations. The position is a mixture of office based and site work in all areas that the company covers, so the ability to travel and work within the UK and abroad is a requirement.
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • Valid Full UK driving license and own car.

PLC Commissioning Engineer

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To work as part of the Project Delivery team, supporting all new system installations. This engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplined project team, performing the on-site commissioning, including all relevant customer training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs on a range of materials handling equipment.
  • Liaising with Avanti and site project managers.
  • Liaising with customers and provide training to operators.
  • Fault-finding and on-site system diagnostics.
  • Support continued improvement and maintain control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing & on site commissioning.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Proven track record (3+ years) in full system commissioning.
  • Experienced in programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs. Siemens TIA Portal knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Ability to liaise and work closely with Avanti and site project managers.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Clear communication skills at all levels, especially verbal.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work. Will see the job through successfully.
  • Highly motivated individual that can work within a team and on his/her own.
  • Ability to complete tasks within tight timelines.
  • Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful.
  • Confident, enthusiastic self-motivated and determined.
  • Ability to travel to, and work at, all areas of company’s operations. The position is a mixture of office based and site work in all areas that the company covers, so the ability to travel and work within the UK and abroad is a requirement. Further, you will need to be happy to stay away, where necessary, throughout the commissioning / installation of a project.
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • Valid Full UK driving license and own car.

Full in house and on the job training will be given and the company also encourages formal training. An experienced mentor will be allocated to guide and support this role.

Installation Engineer (Mechanical bias)

To install conveyor systems and more complex automated materials handling equipment.

The position is predominantly site based with taskings typically between several days to several weeks, at any of our customer sites which are spread throughout the UK and across the globe. Between jobs you will be based at our office and factory facility at Furness Vale. You will have experience with site installation layouts, installing conveyor systems and more complex automated materials handling equipment, working in small teams. The role involves extensive travel within and outside of the UK, often working weekends and public holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Installing and configuring electro mechanical systems and applications.
  • Fault finding and repair.
  • Task planning and logistical coordination.
  • Testing and Commissioning.
  • Customer liaison.
  • Reporting and feedback.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Mechanical installation, machine assembly, motor and drive installation, belt installation, complex machinery assembly and installation, such as automated shuttle cars and multi-function materials handling machinery.
  • Electrical writing and testing. Wiring of drives and safety circuits. Wiring machinery to main control panels. Ability to wire network and ASI cables.
  • Ability/desire to learn basic PLC and automation functions such as drive programming, and software control.
  • Ability to read diagrams, schematics and layout plans.
  • 18th Edition.
  • City & Guilds or NVQ level 2 or 3 in a related discipline
  • Fork-lift truck driving, slinging and lifting.
  • Fabrication and welding.
  • Health and Safety.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently with a professional attitude.
  • Honest, reliable and good timekeeper with a positive outlook at all times.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, with the ability to work under your own initiative and make decisions when needed.
  • Keen to learn and employ new skills.
  • Patient and able to deal with challenging customers.
  • Effective when working as part of a team.
