Project Manager

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To plan, manage and deliver specific installation projects to ensure an excellent delivery in accordance with Avanti standards of customer service, on time, in full, within budget and to the business plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading individual projects from the very start (i.e. datum line laying and project “Kick-off”) to final test and acceptance sign off, producing an action list that is agreed with the customer (to gain full customer satisfaction).
  • Manage all aspects of the project process including initial consultations with customers, preparation of delivery schedules (i.e. both Installation and Software), project resourcing requirements, running of acceptance tests through to final project sign off, etc.
  • To be on site for a good proportion of your time as this role will involve periods of time, possibly up to three months, working away from home.
  • Manage the Avanti project delivery team including team leaders, senior installers, installers and PLC engineers to ensure that each project is delivered On Time and In Full (to a KPI of “OTIF”).
  • Responsible for suggesting training plans for Avanti project delivery team.
  • Liaise with the customer and other OEM suppliers to the project, and to ensure that any customer queries or sales enquiries are responded to in a timely and professional manner.
  • Make continuous improvement suggestions that will benefit the Project Delivery process (i.e. project kick-off, customer liaison, support of the project team, product design, build and install effectiveness, software improvements, communications, etc.) through feedback to Avanti’s design and manufacturing team.
  • To work safely at all times and to promote good Health and Safety practice within the business.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • An experienced Project Manager with an electrical and mechanical background ideally within a materials handling environment.
  • Prince2 qualified with proven examples of applying the seven principles of Prince2.
  • Excellent people management skills and a proven ability to manage teams on site for on large, long term installation projects.
  • Ability to make quick decisions on site if any issues or problems are found (by getting information from the Avanti design team or other members of the company) to ensure quick solutions are agreed so that project deadlines are met.
  • Ability to deal with complex tasks and deliver them to a known budget.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Clear communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work. Will see the job through successfully and to budget.
  • Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful. Confidence, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and determination.
  • Hold a driving licence

Installation Engineer

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

An experienced Electrical / Mechanical Site Installation Engineer is required to join an existing team. The position is site based with some office time and also spells in our manufacturing factory. The work can mean extensive travel in and out of the UK.

You will have experience with site installation layouts, working with Team Leaders, contractors and manufacturers in the field of LV and HV.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Installing and configuring systems and applications.
  • Providing Customer Support.
  • Test and evaluate new products.
  • Conducting electrical safety checks.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Ability to read diagrams, schematic and layout plans.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent decision maker.
  • Honest, reliable and good timekeeper.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Keen to learn and employ new skills.
  • Patient and able to deal with challenging customers.
  • Effective and reliable when working as part of a team.
  • The ideal candidate will, as a minimum be, City & Guilds or NVQ level 2 or 3 in related discipline.
  • Willing to be away from home for long periods as the work can mean extensive travel in and out of the UK.

Project Team Leader

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To deliver specific installation projects to ensure an excellent delivery in accordance with Avanti standards of customer service, on time, in full, within budget and to the business plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for leading individual projects on site from the very start to final test and acceptance sign off.
  • Manage the on-site Avanti Project Delivery team including senior installers, installers and PLC engineers to ensure that each project is delivered On Time and In Full.
  • Installing and configuring systems and applications.
  • To be on site for a good proportion of your time as this role will involve periods of time, possibly up to three months, working away from home.
  • To work safely at all times and to promote good Health and Safety practice within the business.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Ideally a hands-on electrical and mechanical engineer who has stepped up to the Team Leader role
  • Excellent people management skills and a proven ability to manage teams on site for on large, long term installation projects.
  • Ability to make quick decisions on site if any issues or problems are found
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Appropriate hands-on experience (ideally 3 years +) in a small/medium sized engineering organisation. Ideally has an in-depth knowledge of the machine engineering market.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work. Will see the job through successfully.
  • Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful. Confidence, enthusiasm, self-motivation, and determination.
  • Hold a driving licence
  • Willing to be away from home for long periods as the work can mean extensive travel in and out of the UK

PLC Commissioning Engineer

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

To work as part of the Project Delivery team, supporting all new system installations. This engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplined project team, performing the on-site commissioning, including all relevant customer training.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs on a range of materials handling equipment.
  • Liaising with Avanti and site project managers.
  • Liaising with customers and provide training to operators.
  • Fault-finding and on-site system diagnostics.
  • Support continued improvement and maintain control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing & on site commissioning.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

  • Proven track record (3+ years) in full system commissioning.
  • Experienced in programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs. Siemens TIA Portal knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Ability to liaise and work closely with Avanti and site project managers.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers to generate confidence and a good rapport.
  • Clear communication skills at all levels, especially verbal.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well.
  • Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work. Will see the job through successfully.
  • Highly motivated individual that can work within a team and on his/her own.
  • Ability to complete tasks within tight timelines.
  • Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful.
  • Confident, enthusiastic self-motivated and determined.
  • Ability to travel to, and work at, all areas of company’s operations. The position is a mixture of office based and site work in all areas that the company covers, so the ability to travel and work within the UK and abroad is a requirement. Further, you will need to be happy to stay away, where necessary, throughout the commissioning / installation of a project.
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • Valid Full UK driving license and own car.

Full in house and on the job training will be given and the company also encourages formal training. An experienced mentor will be allocated to guide and support this role.
