JOB TITLE:                    Mechanical Designer

REPORTING TO:                  Senior Project Manager


To assist our current designer with project design, to detail the release of designs to our engineering manager, ensure all releases and BOM’s are complete. To produce CAD layouts and to be the point of reference for technical queries during the project life cycle


To complete CAD drawings from site surveys

To maintain all technical project drawings and files.

To prepare mechanical designs and drawings for a range of material handling equipment

To visit customer sites and prepare accurate site surveys and measurements for drawings as required

Drive continual improvement in design and work with the engineering manager to find more cost effective designs


 Proven experience in working within a technical engineering environment with minimum HNC in mechanical engineering

Working knowledge of engineering design process and the ability to use Autocad and Inventor

Excellent people skills

Confidence, enthusiasm, self-motivation & determination

Ability to deal with complex tasks and deliver them to a known budget

Clear communication skills at all levels, especially verbal

Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise well

Attention to detail - accurate and methodical in work

Calm, reliable, trustworthy, unflappable, and cheerful

A driving licence

Previous experience of working with the material handling industry would be beneficial but is not essential

Engineers Wanted

We're currently on the lookout for talented systems engineers to join our team based at our offices in Furness Vale; we are especially interested in graduates with solid engineering foundations, and any experience of robotics or PLCs would be a bonus.

You'll be involved in the design, testing and commissioning of bespoke software solutions for automated conveyor systems, automatic transfer cars, pick and place robots and research and development activities on new software products.
